Weald Basin - UK
Onshore
Lidsey Production -
PL 241
The Lidsey Field is located on the southern flank of the Weald
Basin in a tilted fault block structure which lies on the hinge
line of a Tertiary
inversion feature named the Portsdown axis. The field was
discovered
by Carless Exploration in 1987 and the exploration well
successfully
flowed oil following a proppant frac job.
The main reservoir is the Middle
Jurassic Great Oolite limestone, sealed
by the Oxford Clay and is analogous to the nearby Storrington,
Singleton
and Horndean fields.
Lidsey appears to be typical of the other Weald Oolite
reservoirs which
are characterised by moderate porosities (predominantly oolith
micro-porosity) and very low matrix permeabilities that give
rise to
relatively low recovery. Offset fields show zones of enhanced
permeability, which may be facies related (e.g. Stockbridge or
Storrington Fields),
due to fracturing or related to a palaeo oil-water contact that
arrested
late cementation within the reservoir (e.g. Humbly Grove Field).
Midmar's field development plan was approved by DBERR and
planning permission granted. The field came on production in March 2008.
